What We Collect

PowerWatch collects only the information necessary to detect and display power outages. This includes:

• Power status: Whether you report power as off, on, or restored.
• Location: Municipality and barangay (if provided). Exact GPS coordinates are not required and are not stored.
• Notes: Optional free-text description of the outage.
• Session ID: An anonymous identifier stored in your browser's local storage. It does not contain personal information.
• Timestamp: The date and time your report is submitted (in UTC).

We do not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, device information, or exact GPS coordinates.

How We Use Your Information

• To aggregate community reports and identify possible outages.
• To display outage information on the public map and outage list.
• To improve the accuracy of outage detection over time.

We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to outage monitoring.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties. Aggregated, anonymized outage data may be displayed publicly on the map and outage list.

Third-Party Services

• Cloudflare: Hosting and CDN. Cloudflare may process IP addresses as part of normal web server logs.
• OpenStreetMap: Map tiles and geographic data. Standard map usage applies.

Data Retention

Community reports are retained for 90 days. After this period, they may be deleted automatically. Outage records and signals may be retained longer for historical analysis.

Security

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect data, including parameterized database queries and HTTPS in production. However, no system is completely secure.

Your Rights

You have the right to request correction or deletion of your data. Since reports are anonymous, we may not be able to identify individual submissions. To make a request, use the contact method below.
